My Friend Ron

My friend Ron had a car accident 20 years ago, and since then he has half a life.

He can drive, but he cannot walk well, so he would never even think of taking a walk on a beautiful day like today. Of course he COULD.

He can eat, but he cannot cook easily, and has nobody to cook for, so he doesn’t cook. He could do that too.

Fact is, he COULD do most everything any of us can do, except it might require some extra effort, and he might be reminded of his accident.

I met Ron only a few months ago. It took time to see his good qualities, under his defenses, behind his idiosyncracies.

Ron does not judge me, because I am one of very few people who make time for him. I like not being judged. I also like being appreciated.

I especially like making Ron’s life a little easier, and a little more natural. Today, his porch door is open, giving him some sunlight and fresh air. It’s not a Macrobiotic meal, but it’s a start.
