Desperation Leads to Inspiration

“Every now and then we all get desperate.” I learned that from Peter Wolf, lead singer of the J. Geils Band.

Now, of course, that band is playing with out guitarist and co-founder J. Geils himself, due to a contractual issue. We all have issues that pop up, and the key is how deal with them. The fellow from San Diego who became infamous in Aurora CO did not deal with his problems adequately. Perhaps you and I are more diligent, or lucky.

I had a two-year downward spiral starting with unemployment, leading to a separation, and caused a lot of pain for myself and my family. I have worked and am working on my issues every day: being grateful for my parents, my spouse, my kids, my friends, my health, my skills and everything I have in my life. Perhaps we all have that issue at some point in our lives.

Yesterday I finally got that I need to stop eating at night, and avoid desserts for a while, and also work on more breathing and exercising, to reduce my stress. Today, I am having a marvelous day and spending a lot of time thinking about how lucky I am and how improved health is coming my way. And it’s working.

I tried to share this idea with my son, and I believe he did hear the message this morning, but since it did not completely relieve his suffering when I said it (it takes work and patience, and he is 16 and that may be more than he is capable of right now), it had little effect on him and he had little positive feedback for me.

But I know, the key is to stay positive. Both for me in my life, and for me in regards to my son. And his work is his work, I should not worry too much about it.

What are your issues? Are you working and being patient? How’s it going? Could you use some support?

If you like this post, please comment. We would all love to hear what’s going on for you right now.
