Fall Back to Digestive Health

10 ideas for middle age men, in the autumn of our discontent. 2020 is a hard year for most of us. Stomach and other digestive issues abound, due to being too close to the fridge, and having less control over our lives.

The goal is to reverse minor, recent and even chronic digestive problems, which most doctors will say is impossible. That is why I avoid going to them unless my finger is cut off or I go blind—both of which have happened!!

Top 10 Ideas For Improved Digestion For Middle Aged Men

  1. Eat less animal foods, especially in spring and summer. Beef, pork, chicken, eggs, and cheese are the chief causes of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimers, pneumonia, and domestic violence. When you do eat animals, favor wild, white meat fish. Choose organic, and thank the animal. Occasional organic butter, cream, or goat feta are better than hard cheese or milk, even low-fat.
  2. Cook plant based meals at home. Use organic boiled organic grains, land and sea vegetables, beans/bean products, mushrooms, nuts and seeds. Have a real pickle (no vinegar, colors, etc.) after meals, and skip dessert often. If you are allergic to something, don’t eat it.
  3. Animal food, fruit, beverages and simple carbs are pleasure foods. These foods deplete your health. Avoid tropical fruits and nightshade veggies, especially in the autumn and winter, especially if you suffer from osteoporosis, arthritis, allergies, or joint problems.
  4. Improve your eating habits. Eat less, chew more, do not eat late, eat sitting down, be grateful for your food, avoid media or arguments while you eat, and never salt your food.
  5. Avoid GMO, processed, fast food, cold/hard foods and sugar. Wine and spirits, diet products, medications and vitamins count as sugar.
  6. Take at least one :20+ walk in the woods each day. Lie down on pine needles or grass or the beach if you can, relax, and accept your life!
  7. Keep green plants in your home. Particularly in the bedroom, office and kitchen, plants help us with oxygen and mood.
  8. Avoid radiation from TV, computer, smartphone, microwave, etc.
  9. Get plenty of sleep. Wind down without media two hours ahead. Best time to go to sleep is before 11pm, and rise before 7am.
  10. Do a daily body rub before you shower. Fill the sink with medium–hot water, run a white facecloth over your body with vigor, wringing it out after each part. This will exfoliate your skin, activate your lymph, and give you a chance to detect any changes you see or feel.

Here is an interesting idea to try for digestive health. Crystals!

Here is an article by a friend of mine on fermented foods.

You might consider going to the chiropractor. I went today!!

I am curious how many of these you are already doing to some degree. If you can master eight or more, for two weeks, your issues will be significantly better, or your money back!

Late Summer Adjustments

This summer has been hot in many places.

I know that here in Framingham we have struggled to stay cool, enjoying lots of air-conditioning, trying to get to the water, and inevitably drinking a fair number of cold beverages like beer and coffee.

All of a sudden though, the weather pattern has changed.

It is cooler, and perhaps we will get a little rain which is much needed.

Given that it is now late summer, it is time to slow down with the cold beverages, sugar, fruit, tropical foods and nightshade vegetables such as peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, etc.

If we are not careful, we may end up with some issues with our ear, nose and throat, or lungs.

Doctors, and their ignorance, will often prescribe antibiotics upon looking in our inflamed nose, throat and ears, even though most infections are viral.

That will only weaken the immune system. Dietary adjustments are the only way to relieve this condition, and miso soup and Zyflamend can be helpful

Protest

Why is it, that only violence creates change with the U.S. Government?

We understand Black Lives Matter, and we are glad to see folks rallying around people who are discriminated against or are the victims of violence or unfair treatment in our society, through peaceful protests.

However, we are disappointed in these ways:

  1. Violence is hypocritical and causes suffering
  2. Looting just creates more victims and raises costs for all of us
  3. Tearing down statues via a mob sets a bad example, destroys our history and thus our future, and makes the U.S. look unstable
  4. Animals are also victims of senseless violence. You love our pet but eat beef, pork, lamb, poultry, eggs and dairy foods, causing enslavement, torture and murder of sentient beings. This needs to end or we will continue to suffer from war, domestic violence, depression and suicide, heart disease and cancer, viruses and environmental disaster.
We need to end Factory Farms if we want peace, health and environmental healing

We are looking to get involved in a peaceful protest to save animals from being on Factory Farms. President Trump has declared Factory Farms essential, and given their numbers of Covid infections, this makes no sense.

What are your thoughts on any of the above?

Bacon, Egg, Cheese Sandwich

I have been partly, mostly or all vegan for 34 years. These days, my very principled daughter Jordana is living with us, and we cannot bring any animal foods into the house (except for the cat). It has been GREAT.

Last night, she made us the most delicious breakfast for dinner:

Bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on homemade sourdough bread, with fresh herbs, tomato, onion and sprouts. So tasty and beautiful, I am certain that any meat eater who likes these type sandies would be happy.

Jordana used:

  • Sweet Earth Bacon
  • Just Egg
  • Whole Foods Plant Based Smoked Gouda
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Biolife Plant Based Colby Cheese Shreds
  • Primal Kitchen Vegan Mayo

Do You Have Fatty Liver?

There is new research showing that most severe cases of Covid-19 are in people with non-alcoholic Fatty Liver, which is caused by eating animal foods and sugar.

60% of Covid deaths are obese, 70% have hypertension, and of course most are over 65 years old. So why lock down everyone else?

The stress from us losing our jobs, being separated from family and friends, and not being able to do the things that we enjoy, is causing serious harm to our mental health, and probably spurring more drug and alcohol use, as well as eating of animal foods and sugar, so more chance of dying from Coronavirus.

It is no wonder people are protesting, with or without police brutality, or racism, which clearly do exist, in this crazy world. But here is one more truth bomb:

When we eat animal foods and sugar, and take drugs and alcohol, we are also more likely to be racist and violent, because of the extreme energy of yin (sugar) and yang (meat, cheese, eggs). Think about it, who are the most violent people? Pro athletes, police, and those in poverty, who all eat a mostly animal food, sugar, drug and alcohol diet.

So where is the discussion of this, and how to fix it? Instead, we have President Trump calling Factory Farms essential, and liquor stores remaining open while churches are instructed to be closed? Insane.

So, if you want to be part of the problem, eat animal foods, and sugar, and take drugs and alcohol. If you want to be part of the solution, eat a plant-based diet. Simple as that people.

Lockdown Over

Saturday, May 2—The people have spoken. They are on the move, voting with their feet, and some with their masks. But they are outside, eating, drinking, smoking and laughing, with skateboard, surfboard and iPhone at their side.

There is no more worry, we are finally free. People died, or they didn’t. We all died inside for the past month and a half.

Let’s pick up the pieces, get back to living, and remember the low gas prices, compassion and empty roads with fondness like an idealized youth.

We will remember you on Election Day, Dicks!!

Immunity During Covid-19

Whether we continue the draconian methods to “flatten the curve” or not, it is inevitable that you will eventually come in contact with the virus that causes COVID19 in the environment. Therefore your best line of defense is to make your internal environment as inhospitable as possible.

Terrain theory is the theory of disease proposed by Antoine Béchamp that a diseased body, the “terrain”, will attract germs to come as scavengers of the weakened or poorly defended tissue. Béchamp believed that the pH of the body is important, and that an acidic pH will attract germs and an alkaline pH will repel them. This theory was replaced by modern medicine with the advocacy of germ theory introduced by Pasteur. This has been most unfortunate, as terrain theory is correct. Concentrating on germs instead of the body is like trying to push the tide away from the beach with a shovel.

Mucus forming foods provide an environment that is sublime for the proliferation of bacteria and viruses. Dairy products and flour products, especially refined flour, are the two most mucus forming foods, and they create a lush breeding ground for bacteria. Add to this the depletion of minerals caused by the consumption of refined sugar and the environment is perfect. The natural oxidation of flour occurs within 4 to 14 days after grinding, but commercial bakers today add acidic compounds to speed up the process, because it makes the resulting dough more manageable and delectable.

This acidic state when eaten affects the whole body, but especially the sinuses and bronchial areas. As noted above, viruses are pH sensitive, and this increased acidity makes the area more hospitable to virus proliferation when we encounter them in the environment, which is inevitable. When they proliferate in the sinuses, the immune system produces histamine, which produces mucous to put up a first line of defense against the invader.

If we then take an anti-histamine because of the discomfort we are feeling, we actually remove the immune system’s first line of defense. Grains in their whole, unprocessed, form, such as brown rice, millet, or barley, are not mucous forming. Partially processed grains, such as rolled oats, are partially mucous forming.

Dairy products have the same effect, creating an acidic condition in the sinuses and respiratory system that is optimal for virus proliferation. Refined sugar is acid forming in the body, and in addition depletes the body of alkaline minerals, which are essential for strong immune function.
